1941 yılında rol aldığı “Strawberry Blonde” ve “You'll Never Get Rich” Hayworth’u yıldız yaptı.
Küçüklüğünden itibaren aldığı dans eğitimi sayesinde müzikal filmlerde çok başarılı olan Hayworth bu dönemde rol aldığı “You Were Never Lovelier”, “Tales of Manhattan” gibi filmlerle yerini sağlamlaştırdı. Bu sırada ABD’nin savaşa girmesi ile askerlere moral vermek için çeşitli faaliyetlere katılan Hayworth, 1944 yılında rol aldığı “Cover Girl / Kapak Kızı” filmi ile seksi vücudunu ön plana çıkardı.
1946 yılında rol aldığı “Gilda” Rita Hayworth’un kariyerinin zirvesi oldu. Kumarhane sahibi Ballin Mundson'ın güzel ve çekici eşi Gilda aynı zamanda kocasının Buones Aires'deki kumarhanesinde krupiye olarak çalışan eski kumarbaz Johhny Farrel'in eski sevgilisidir. Aralarındaki çekimin farkına varan Mundson ikisini biraraya getirmeye karar verir ve Farrel'i karısının bodyguard'ı yapar...
70’li yılların sonunda yakalandığı Alzheimer nedeniyle sinemadan koparak kendi köşesine çekilen Hayworth, 14 Mayıs 1987’de doğum yeri New York’ta hayata veda etti. Toplam beş kez evlenen güzel yıldızın Orson Welles ve Prens Aly Khan’dan birer kızı bulunuyor. | | Ursula Andress

Biography
Ursula Andress was born in Ostermundigen, Berne, Switzerland, to a Swiss-Italian mother and a German father. Her father, Rolf Andress, was a German diplomat. He disappeared during World War II. Andress has four sisters and one brother. She is fluent in English, French, Italian, and German.
Andress started her career as an art model in Rome, which led to her first roles in the active Italian movie industry.
She became famous as Honey Ryder, a shell diver and James Bond's object of desire in Dr. No (1962), the first Bond movie.
Ursula Andress' voice in Dr. No was provided by Nikki van der Zyl while the famous calypso song was sung by Diana Coupland.
Ursula Andress has the singular distinction among Bond Girls of having actually appeared in the narrative of a Fleming novel, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, written after Fleming was present during filming of Dr. No. She is pointed out to Bond by Irma Bunt while they are dining at Piz Gloria.
In 1963, she won a Golden Globe for Best Promising Newcomer (Female).
Andress co-starred with the king of rock 'n' roll Elvis Presley in the 1963 film, Fun in Acapulco , with Frank Sinatra in 4 for Texas (1963) and opposite Marcello Mastroianni in The 10th Victim (1965). She also appeared in the Bond satire Casino Royale (1967) as Vesper Lynd, an occasional spy who persuades Evelyn Tremble, as played by Peter Sellers to carry out a mission. Her heavy accent was dubbed over in Dr. No, but she used her own voice in Casino Royale.
In 1965, she posed nude for a picture for Playboy.
In 1981's Clash of the Titans, she starred opposite legendary English actor Laurence Olivier
Personal life
She was married in 1957 to actor/director John Derek. The marriage ended in divorce in 1966 due to her well-publicized love affair with French actor Jean-Paul Belmondo. Andress dated many of Hollywood's leading men including co-stars Sean Connery, Marlon Brando and James Dean. In 1981, she had a son, Dimitri, with American actor Harry Hamlin, her co-star in the film Clash of the Titans.

Tributes

In 1995, Ursula Andress was chosen by Empire magazine as one of the "100 Sexiest Stars in film history."
In 2003, in a UK Survey by Channel 4, her entrance in Dr. No was voted #1 in "the 100 Greatest Sexy Moments."

Early life
Welch was born in Chicago, Illinois, the oldest of three children born to Armando Carlos Tejada Urquizo and Josephine Sarah Hall. Her father, who immigrated from La Paz, Bolivia, was an aerospace engineer of Castilian Spanish descent; her mother was an Irish-American.[1]
In 1942, Armando Tejada was transferred to San Diego, California. The family moved to the suburb of La Jolla, where Welch grew up. She took dancing lessons as a child, and was winning beauty pageants by the time she was a teenager. Among her titles were "Miss Photogenic," "Miss La Jolla," "Miss Contour," and "Miss San Diego." In 1957, she was named "Miss Fairest of the Fair" at the San Diego County Fair. After attending La Jolla High School, she entered San Diego State College on a theater arts scholarship. The following year she married a high school sweetheart, James Welch.
Career
In 1959, Welch played the title role in the famous Ramona Pageant, a yearly outdoor play at Hemet, California, which is based on the novel Ramona by Helen Hunt Jackson.
Raquel Welch as Loana in One Million Years B.C. (1966)
She became a weather forecaster at KFMB, a local San Diego television station. Because of her heavy schedule, she decided to leave college. Her marriage broke up and she moved with her two children to Dallas, Texas, where she modeled for Neiman Marcus and worked as a cocktail hostess, intending to move on to New York City from there.
Instead, Welch moved back to California. She found a place in Los Angeles and started making the rounds of the movie studios. She was cast in bit parts in two films and in the television shows Bewitched, McHale's Navy, The Hollywood Palace, and The Virginian. She auditioned for the part of "Mary Ann" on Gilligan's Island but lost out to Dawn Wells.[citation needed]
Welch's first featured role was in A Swingin' Summer, which led to a contract with 20th Century Fox. She was then cast in the Sci-fi hit Fantastic Voyage (1966), which finally made her a star.
On loan out to Hammer Studios in Britain, Welch starred in the remake of One Million Years B.C.. After her appearance as Lust incarnate in the hitBedazzled, she returned to the United States and appeared in a Western with James Stewart and Dean Martin titled Bandolero!, which was followed by Lady in Cement with Frank Sinatra.
Myra Breckinridge (1970)
Welch's first real starring role was in Myra Breckinridge with Mae West. She took the role as the film's transsexual heroine in an attempt to be taken seriously as an actress, but the movie turned out to be a dismal failure.
Welch became one of the leading sex symbols of the 1960s and 1970s. Her most memorable publicity still, where she was clad in a furry animal-skin bikini for One Million Years B.C., became a bestselling poster. Playboy called her the "Most Desired Woman" of the 1970s. Ironically, despite her iconic sex symbol status, having acted in numerous films and been subject of countless magazine layouts, including Playboy, Welch has never appeared or posed nude.
Welch was due to star in the 1982 adaptation of Cannery Row, but was fired by the producers only a few days into production (allegedly, she was taking too long to get ready each day). She was replaced with Debra Winger. Welch successfully sued, collecting a multi-million dollar award, but this effectively ended her film acting career until the mid-1990s. Her television appearances include the series The Hollywood Palace, the made for TV movies The Legend of Walks Far Woman and Right to Die, in which she turned in a stirring performance as a woman with Lou Gehrig's disease, and in the PBS series American Family, about a Mexican American family in East Los Angeles. She has also appeared in the night time soap opera Central Park West and made infomercials and exercise videos. While she never appeared on the show, her name was frequently used as an all-purpose answer on the game show Match Game. In 1987, she flirted with a pop singing career, releasing the dance single This Girl's Back In Town.
She has also performed in a nightclub act in Las Vegas and has starred on Broadway in Woman of the Year and in Victor/Victoria, replacing Julie Andrews.
In a 1997 episode of the comedy series Seinfeld entitled "The Summer of George" Welch played a highly temperamental version of herself, assaulting series stars Kramer and Elaine, the former because he fired her from an acting job and the latter because Welch mistakenly thought that Elaine was mocking her.
On July 18, 2007 Liz Smith reported that Welch has been invited to play Eva Longoria's sexy aunt on Desperate Housewives.[2]
Beauty business career
"The Raquel Welch Total Beauty and Fitness Program" was published in 1984. The book, written by Welch herself includes a Hatha Yoga fitness program, her views on healthy living/nutrition, as well as beauty and personal style.
As a businesswoman Welch has experienced great success with her signature line of wigs. She also began a jewelry and skincare line although neither of those ventures compared to the success of her wig collection.
In January 2007 she was revealed as the newest face of MAC Cosmetics Beauty Icon series. Her line features several limited edition makeup shades in glossy black and tiger print packaging.
Latin American status
Her professional name, Raquel Welch, served as protection against discrimination in Hollywood.[citation needed] Many other stars did the same in times prior to the 1990s. The names included people like Rita Hayworth. With the recent attention and acceptance by the American public of people of Latin descent, she has been coming out and reminding people of her Hispanic heritage.[citation needed]
On July 18, 2007 Liz Smith reported that Welch is proud of her Bolivian roots.[2]
Personal life
- She has been married to James Welch (1959-1962), publicist and agent; Patrick Curtis (1967-1972), director/producer Andre Weinfeld (1980-1990); and Richard Palmer (1999).
- She is the mother of Damon Welch (b.November 6,1959) and actress Tahnee Welch(b.December 26,1961).
- She is a fan of Chelsea FC, or was "in the '70s".[3]
- During the 70s, she attempted to date shock rocker Alice Cooper. He attempted to avoid her since he was dating a dancer that would become his wife
Achievements and awards
In 1974, Raquel Welch won a Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture Actress in a Musical or Comedy for The Three Musketeers. She was also nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance in the TV drama Right to Die (1987).
She was also the recipient of the Golden Turkey Award for worst actress.
She has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 7021 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood.

The article could be improved by integrating relevant items into the main text and removing inappropriate items. (June 2007)
- Raquel Welch is a relative of the only female president of Bolivia, Lydia Gueiler Tejada.
- Raquel Welch's son, Damon Welch, married Rebecca Trueman, the daughter of cricketing legend Fred Trueman, a union of the acting and sporting worlds but the marriage was short-lived. Raquel Welch arrived at the wedding after the bride, completely upstaging her. She claimed at the time that her lateness was because she had been giving an interview and lost track of the time, but later she admitted that she had done it on purpose, knowing that the press would write about her, so she planned to give them something to write about. When the couple announced they were splitting up in Hello!, they emphatically denied that the split was anything to do with Welch.
- Raquel Welch's daughter, Tahnee Welch followed her mother's December 1979 example and appeared on the cover of Playboy, the November 1995 issue.
- Raquel's publicity poster for the movie One Million Years B.C. played an integral role in the film The Shawshank Redemption, by serving to hide the tunnel Andy Dufresne was digging to escape from Shawshank.

| | Sophia Loren
Bu filmden sonra ününü iyice arttıran Loren "Attila", "The Gold of Naples", "Two Nights with Cleopatra" ve "Too Bad She’s Bad" gibi filmlerle zirveye çıktı.
ABD’de rol aldığı "Desire Under the Elms", "The Key", "Houseboat", "The Kind of Women", "A Breath of Scandal" ile büyük başarılar kazanan Loren, 1961’de Jean Paul Belmondo ile birlikte rol aldığı İtalyan-Fransız ortak yapımı savaş draması "Ciociara-Two Women" ile Oscar kazandı.
1964’de rol aldığı "The Fall of The Roman Empire" gelmiş geçmiş en iyi Roma filmlerinden biri olarak gösterildi. Ünlü ikili şu an halen evliliklerini sürdürüyorlar. Sophia Loren ise artık kamera karşısına geçmiyor.
En son Robert Altman’ın "Ready to Wear / Hazır Giyim" filminde Marcello Mastroianni ile kamera karşısına geçen Sophia Loren, vaktini hayvan hakları savunuculuğu yaparak geçiriyor. 2002 yılında gerçekleşen Uluslararası Venedik Film Festivali'nde, bu yılki "yaşam boyu başarı" ödülüne İtalyan aktris Sophia Loren layık görüldü. | | Jane Fonda

Dame Elizabeth Rosemond Taylor DBE (born February 27, 1932) is a famous two-time Academy Award-winning British-American actress.
Her eyes are sometimes said to be violet color, and at least one source refers to this suggested anomaly as her "trademark" violet eyes. It is further suggested, though photos do not support the claim, that her eyes are framed by a "double row" of eyelashes.[1] Known for her acting skills and beauty, as well as her Hollywood lifestyle including many marriages, she is considered one of the great actresses of Hollywood's golden years, as well as a larger-than-life celebrity.
The American Film Institute named Taylor seventh among the Greatest Female Stars of All Time.

Biography
Life and career
Taylor was born in Hampstead, a very wealthy suburb of London, England, the second child of Francis Lenn Taylor (1897 â€" 1968) and Sara Viola Warmbrodt (1896 â€" 1994), who were Americans residing in England. Taylor's older brother, Howard Taylor, was born in 1929.
Her two first names are in honor of her paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Taylor, who was born Elizabeth Mary Rosemond. Taylor was born both a British subject and an American citizen, the former by being born on British soil under the principle of Jus soli, and the latter through her parents under the principle of Jus sanguinis.
Both of her American parents were originally from Arkansas City, Kansas. Her father was an art dealer and her mother a former actress whose stage name was Sara Sothern. Sara retired from the stage when she and Francis Taylor married in 1926 in New York. In popular accounts, Taylor's father has been portrayed as a weak figure who always capitulated to her mother.[citation needed]
Elizabeth Taylor at age twelve in National Velvet
At the age of three, Elizabeth began taking ballet lessons. Shortly after the beginning of World War II, her parents decided to return to the United States to avoid hostilities. Her mother took the children first, while her father remained in London to wrap up matters in the art business. They settled in Los Angeles, California, where Sara's family, the Warmbrodts, were then living.
Taylor appeared in her first motion picture at the age of nine for Universal. They let her contract drop, and she was signed with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Her first movie with that studio was Lassie Come Home (1943), which drew favorable attention. That movie starred child star Roddy McDowall, with whom Elizabeth would share a lifelong friendship. After a few more movies, the second on loan-out to 20th Century Fox, she appeared in her first leading role and achieved child star status playing Velvet Brown, a young girl who trains a horse to win the Grand National in Clarence Brown's movie National Velvet (1944) with Mickey Rooney. National Velvet was a big hit, grossing over US$4 million at the box-office, and she was signed to a long-term contract. Gene Tierney originally was offered the role in MGM's National Velvet but production was delayed so Tierney signed with Fox. The rest is Hollywood history.
She attended school on the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer lot and received a diploma from University High School in Los Angeles on January 26, 1950, the same year she was first married at age 18.
Elizabeth Taylor won the Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her performances in BUtterfield 8 (1960), which co-starred then husband Eddie Fisher, and again for Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (film) (1966), which co-starred then-husband Richard Burton and the Supporting Actress Oscar-winner, Sandy Dennis.
Taylor was nominated for Raintree County (1957) with Montgomery Clift, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1958) with Paul Newman, and Suddenly, Last Summer (1959) with Clift, Katharine Hepburn and Mercedes McCambridge.

In 1963, she became the highest paid movie star up until that time when she accepted US$1 million to play the title role in the lavish production of Cleopatra for 20th Century Fox. It was during the filming of that movie that she worked for the first time with future husband Richard Burton, who played Mark Antony. Movie magazines, the forerunners of today's tabloids, had a field day when Taylor and Burton began an affair during filming; both stars were married to other people at the time. She was even accused by a Vatican newspaper of having descended into "erotic vagrancy." A lot of people thought of Elizabeth Taylor as a "Scarlet Woman." She and many others disagreed with that strongly. Richard Burton was quoted as saying: "You'd be surprised at the morals of many women stars who are regarded by the public as goody-two-shoes. They leap into bed with any male in grabbing distance. That's what makes me mad when I read stuff hinting Liz is a scarlet woman because she's been married five times. She's only had five men in her life whereas those goody-two-shoes have lost count."[citation needed]
She has also appeared a number of times on television, including the 1973 made-for-TV movie with then husband Richard Burton, titled Divorce His - Divorce Hers. In 1985, she played movie gossip columnist Louella Parsons in Malice in Wonderland opposite Jane Alexander, who played Hedda Hopper, and also appeared in the mini-series North and South. In 2001, she played an agent in These Old Broads. She has also appeared on a number of other TV shows, including the soap operas General Hospital and All My Children and the animated The Simpsons; once as herself, and the other as the voice of Maggie.
Taylor has also acted on the stage, making her Broadway and West End debuts in 1982 with a revival of Lillian Hellman's The Little Foxes. She was then in a production of Noel Coward's Private Lives (1983), in which she starred with her former husband, Richard Burton. The student-run Burton Taylor Theatre in Oxford was named for the famous couple after Burton appeared as Doctor Faustus in the Oxford University Dramatic Society (OUDS) production of the Marlowe play. Elizabeth Taylor played the ghostly, wordless Helen of Troy, who is entreated by Faustus to 'make [him] immortal with a kiss'.
Marriages
Taylor has been married eight times to seven husbands:
- Conrad "Nicky" Hilton (May 6, 1950 - January 29, 1951) (divorced)
- Michael Wilding (February 21, 1952 - January 26, 1957) (divorced)
- Michael Todd (February 2, 1957 - March 22, 1958) (widowed)
- Eddie Fisher (May 12, 1959 - March 6, 1964) (divorced)
- Richard Burton (March 15, 1964 - June 26, 1974) (divorced)
- Richard Burton (again) (October 10, 1975 - July 29, 1976) (divorced)
- John Warner (December 4, 1976 - November 7, 1982) (divorced)
- Larry Fortensky (October 6, 1991 - October 31, 1996) (divorced)
Relationship with parents
Taylor's mother Sara was a domineering figure who controlled Elizabeth's life from the outside with single-minded determination. She had similarly exerted her influence on her husband Francis, a shy and retiring man whom she attempted to mold into a confident, outgoing man. Taylor was never truly allowed to bond with her father, who was by and large a peripheral figure in a life dominated by her mother and her mother's obsession with public image. Even in 1968 when her father died and Taylor began crying at the funeral, her mother intervened. 'But I'm not crying dear. If a man's widow isn't crying it isn't good for others to do so. It makes me seem unfeeling.'[citation needed]
Her mother also exerted influence on Taylor's life well into adulthood. After her marriage to Warner ended, with her weight ballooning she intervened at first with cruel prods and then by arranging a tea party. At this tea party her mother asked each of the elderly guests when they last felt they could've been described as gorgeous.
Finally she turned to her daughter and enquired 'How about you dear?' There was an uncomfortable pause before Taylor replied 'My moment is yet to come, Mother.' Sara Taylor raised her glass and said 'I knew it! You'll be beautiful again! Prove them all fools.' She continued 'And if you avoid letting it slip in the first place you'll save us both a lot of trouble.'[citation needed]
Sara's pride in Taylor though, knew no bounds. Her house was covered with photos of Taylor in her prime and she used to demand of visitors 'Look at my daughter. Now if she is not the most beautiful woman in the world I don't know who is.' [citation needed]
Despite their often difficult relationship, Sara was always her daughter's biggest champion and when she died in 1994, Taylor was devastated. In 2000 when Taylor was made a Dame of the British Empire she raised a glass of sparkling cider and made a toast
There's a woman who deserves our deepest appreciation because if it weren't for her we'd all be somewhere else right now. Let's all drink to my mother Sara Taylor.
A guest shouted 'Hear, hear!'; however, Taylor then commanded
No! Let's drink to two things. To my mother and forgiveness.
[citation needed]
Children
Taylor and Wilding had two sons, Michael Howard Wilding (b. January 6, 1953), and Christopher Edward Wilding (b. February 27, 1955). She and Todd had one daughter, Elizabeth Frances Todd, called "Liza," (b. August 6, 1957). And in 1964, she and Fisher started adoption proceedings for a daughter, whom Burton later adopted, Maria Burton (b. August 1, 1961).
Other interests

Taylor has a passion for jewelry. Over the years she has owned a number of well known pieces, two of the most talked about being the 33.19 carat (6.638 g) Krupp Diamond and the 69.42 carat (13.884 g) pear-shaped Taylor-Burton Diamond, which were among many gifts from husband Richard Burton. Taylor also owns the 50 carat La Peregrina Pearl, purchased by Burton as a Valentine's day present in 1969. The pearl was formerly owned by Mary I of England, and Burton sought a portrait of Queen Mary wearing the pearl. Upon the purchase of the painting, the Burtons discovered that the British National Portrait Gallery did not have an original painting of Mary, so they donated the painting to the Gallery [2] [3]. Her enduring collection of jewelry has been eternalized with her book My Love Affair with Jewelry (2002).
In 2005, she partnered with Jack and Monty Abramov of Mirabelle Luxury Concepts in Los Angeles to introduce the House of Taylor Jewelry. In 2005, House of Taylor Jewelry formed a partnership with Kathy Ireland Worldwide, a design-and-marketing firm with more than US$1 billion in annual sales. She has also launched three perfumes, "Passion," "White Diamonds," and "Black Pearls," that together earn an estimated US$200 million in annual sales. In the Fall of 2006, Dame Elizabeth Taylor celebrated the 15th anniversary of her White Diamonds perfume, one of the top-10 best selling fragrances for more than the past decade.
Taylor has devoted much time and energy to AIDS-related charities and fundraising. She helped start the American Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR) after the death of her former co-star and friend, Rock Hudson. She also created her own AIDS foundation, Elizabeth Taylor Aids Foundation (ETAF). By 1999, she had helped to raise an estimated US$50 million to fight the disease.
Recently, in the year 2006, Taylor donated US$40,000 to the AIDS New Orleans Aids task force, a charity designed for the New Orleans population with AIDS and HIV. The NO/AIDS task force estimated that about 7,400 residents were infected with HIV before Hurricane Katrina. Taylor and Macy's donated a 37 ft "CareVa," equipped with examination tables and X-Ray equipment.[4]
In the early 1980s she moved to Bel-Air, which is her current home. The fenced and gated property is on tour maps sold at street corners and is frequently passed by tour guides.
Taylor was also a fan of the soap opera General Hospital. In fact, she was cast as the first Helena Cassadine, matriarch of the Cassadine family.
Taylor is a supporter of Kabbalah and member of the Kabbalah Centre. She encouraged friend Michael Jackson to wear a red string as protection from the evil-eye during his 2005 trial for molestation, where he was eventually cleared of all charges. Back in 1997, Jackson presented Taylor with exclusively written to her epic 'Elizabeth, I Love You' song, performed on the day of her 65th anniversary celebration.

Recent years
In November 2004, Taylor announced that she had been diagnosed with congestive heart failure, a condition in which the heart pumps insufficient amounts of blood throughout the body. She has broken her back five times, has survived a benign brain tumor operation, skin cancer, and has faced life-threatening bouts with pneumonia twice. She is reclusive and sometimes fails to make scheduled appearances due to illness or other personal reasons. She is now confined to a wheelchair to get around.[citation needed]
In 2005 she was a vocal supporter of her friend,[citation needed]Michael Jackson, in his trial in California on charges of sexually abusing a child. He was acquitted.
In recent years, Taylor reportedly became closely attached to her pet dog, saying that she went nowhere without her little Maltese named Sugar. [citation needed]In an interview with American magazine W, Taylor said she was happiest while with husbands Todd and Burton, but now has to be content with Sugar for company. She explains, "I've never loved a dog like this in my life. It's amazing. Sometimes I think there's a person in there. There's something to say for this kind of love - it's unconditional."[citation needed] In June 2005, Taylor's beloved dog Sugar died. However, several months later (in September) she purchased a descendant of Sugar which she named Daisy.
It was reported on April 27, 2006 that Taylor was close to death.[citation needed] This was quickly denied by Taylor's publicist, Dick Guttman. "Dick Guttman says that he can refute every allegation in these published reports. In fact, he says they didn't get anything right. Guttman says Taylor has a very busy life, with her successful perfume and jewelry lines and the work she does for the fight against AIDS."[citation needed] On May 30, 2006, she appeared on Larry King Live to refute the claims that she has been ill, and denied the allegations that she was suffering from Alzheimer's disease and was close to death.[citation needed]
In late August 2006 Taylor decided to take a boating trip to help prove that she was not even close to death. She also decided to make Christie's auction house the primary place where she will sell her jewelry, artwork, clothing, furniture, and memorabilia (September 2006).[5]
In October 2006, it was widely reported that Taylor would be marrying her constant companion, artist Firooz Zahedi, 17 years her junior.[6] Taylor responded by asserting that she and Zahedi "never have been and will never be romantically involved."[7]
The February 2007 issue of Interview magazine devoted itself entirely to Elizabeth Taylor--a celebration of her life, career and her upcoming seventy-fifth birthday.
On August 20, 2007, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and First Lady Maria Shriver announced that Elizabeth Taylor will be inducted into the California Hall of Fame this December 5, 2007 located at The California Museum for History, Women and the Arts in Sacramento.

Biography
Early life
Basinger (pronounced [ˈbeɪ.sɪŋ.ɚ] (bay-sing-er), often mispronounced [ˈbæ.sɪn.dʒɚ](bass-in-jer)) was born in Athens, Georgia. Her father, Don Basinger, was a big band musician and loan manager[1] who landed in Normandy during D-Day.[2] Her mother, Ann, was a model, actress, and swimmer in Esther Williams films. She has two brothers, Mick and Skip, and two sisters, Ashley and Barbara.
When Basinger was sixteen years old, she started her modelling career by winning the Athens Junior Miss contest. She followed that up by winning the title "Junior Miss Georgia". Basinger then headed to New York City to compete in the national Junior Miss pageant. It was there that Basinger was approached by fashion modeling mogul Eileen Ford, who offered the young beauty queen a modeling contract with Ford Modeling Agency. Initially turning down the offer in favor of singing and acting, Basinger reconsidered and headed back to New York to become a Ford model.
Career
Not long after penning the deal, Basinger's face graced numerous magazine covers and she also appeared in hundreds of ads throughout the early ‘70s, most notably appearing as the Breck shampoo girl. She achieved a top model status by age 20, earning a salary of $1,000 a day. In the meantime, she alternated between modeling work and attending acting classes at the prestigious Neighborhood Playhouse as well as performing in various Greenwich Village clubs.
In 1976, after a five-year stint as a cover girl, Basinger decided to put her modeling career on hold and move to Los Angeles to begin a career in acting. After appearing in small parts on a few TV shows such as "McMillan & Wife" and "Charlie's Angels", her first star turn was a made-for-TV movie, "Katie: Portrait of a Centerfold" (1978) in which she played a small town girl who goes to Hollywood to become an actress, and winds up becoming a famous centerfold for a men's magazine. She was a James Bond girl in Never Say Never Again (1983), where she starred opposite Sean Connery. She did a famous pictorial for Playboy magazine in 1983, which Basinger has said led to good opportunities, such as Barry Levinson's The Natural (1984) co-starring Robert Redford, for which she earned a Golden Globe nomination as Best Supporting Actress. Another important Academy Award winning writer-director Robert Benton cast her in the title role for the film Nadine (1987). Other famous directors repeated her in their films, such as Blake Edwards for The Man Who Loved Women (1983) and Blind Date (1987)) and Robert Altman for Fool for Love (1985) and Prêt-à -Porter (1994). Her most prominent appearances include 9½ Weeks (1986), Batman (1989) and Curtis Hanson's L.A. Confidential (1997) for which she received an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, as well as the Golden Globe and Screen Actor's Guild Award. Hanson would cast her once more as Eminem's mother in the hit film 8 Mile (2002).
Personal life
Basinger was married to makeup artist Ron Snyder-Britton in 1980, whom she met on the film Hard Country, but the marriage ended in divorce in 1988. He would later write a memoir titled Longer than Forever, published in 1998, about their time together and about her rumored affair with actor Richard Gere, with whom she starred in No Mercy (1986) and Final Analysis (1992).[3] She met her second husband actor Alec Baldwin when both played romantic lovers in the flop The Marrying Man (1991). They married on August 19, 1993 and appeared in another flop, the remake of The Getaway (1994). They also played themselves on an 1998 episode of the The Simpsons (which also includes Ron Howard), where Basinger corrects Homer Simpson on the pronunciation of her last name and also polishes her Oscar statutette. They have a daughter, Ireland Eliesse "Addie" Baldwin (born October 23, 1995), but the couple separated in 2000. Divorced in February 2002, Basinger and Baldwin have since been locked in a very public, contentious custody battle.
Basinger suffers from agoraphobia, which is a form of an anxiety disorder, the abnormal fear of experiencing a difficult or embarrassing situation, such as a panic attack, in a public place.
Some of her family members recommended that Basinger buy the small town of Braselton, Georgia in 1989 for $20 million, with the hopes of establishing the town as a tourist attraction with movie studios and a film festival, but she met financial difficulties and sold it in 1993. The town is now owned by developer Wayne Mason. In a 1998 interview with Barbara Walters, Basinger admitted that "nothing good came out of it," because a rift resulted within her family. Her financial difficulties were exacerbated when she pulled out of the controversial film Boxing Helena, the studio sued her and won a $8-million judgment against her at the trial level. Basinger filed for bankruptcy[4] and also appealed the jury's decision to a higher court, which sided with her. Eventually, she and the studio settled for a lesser amount.[5]
